Founder and CEO Sam East created Shake Locate after encountering challenges while trying to direct his father in a new city, reflecting on the cumbersome nature of sharing locations through various apps. He states, “For those who aren’t familiar with their surroundings it can be difficult to describe how to get to them and the process to share a location can be lengthy. I wanted to streamline this by using longitude and latitude as the basis for accurate location pinpointing.”

For users who may not be technologically inclined or those who simply wish to save time, Shake Locate makes locating and sharing one's position effortless. A simple shake of the phone provides an accurate location along with a shareable link that can be sent via SMS or through social networks. Additionally, users can create lists of favorite places, explore nearby locations, and share coordinates with default contacts or individuals, all without requiring an Internet connection.

Sam emphasizes the importance of user experience: “I thought finding and sharing your location should not involve navigating multiple applications or copying links across different platforms. My goal was to enhance accessibility with Shake Locate.”
